So many of our customer / friends have asked me how on earth did a South African (who speaks so strange) get into the Model “A” business here in the States with so much competition. Let me try and make this as painless as possible.

I bought my first Model “A”, a 1929 Right Hand Drive Phaeton in 1972. I became an excited and very interested onlooker as my cousin did most of the work on restoring the car. With the help of a number of business trips to the U.S.A. to find parts we finally had a best of show Phaeton.

During 1985 we decided to immigrate to the U.S.A. and after 5 years of bureaucratic paper work we finally arrived in Atlanta in August of 1990. Within a short period of time, I met Mr. Maron Buice who was about to start a full restoration on his Leatherback Victoria.

Sadly for Maron he fell off of his roof whilst doing some repair work and broke his hip - this gave me the opportunity to restore his “Vicky” - some of you may remember this car - it was amongst the five cars that were featured on our 1999 Catalog that I have restored in the past few years, and is now in the Bugg Museum in Athens, Georgia.

The staff here now consists of me, my wife Kay, two of my daughters (Angela and Kelly), my son-in-law Erich (Kelly’s Husband). Together our goal is to create an environment were it is a pleasure to be with family all day and giving our “A” customers the friendliest service possible.

At the beginning of 2004 we moved to our new and improved shop and we have settled in nicely. Our Grand Opening was June 5th 2004 and between us and the Georgia Chapter of the MACFA and MARC we called it “Grandfather’s Day”. A wonderful day was had by all and 103 Model “A” ‘s arrived to visit and tour our new premises. This gathering has become an annual event, always held on the First Saturday in June.
