This pawl is mounted at the bottom of the Emergency Brake Handle and engages the ratchet as the handle is pulled back. It is only used on the Emergency Brake Handles that are mounted on the Drivers Left Side next to the Cowl Panel. This will not work on the pistol grip handle that is located in front of the gear shift.
